UK's cash cow is under thread, imagine other sectors. What ever happened to the UK? Back in 2015 the economy was flourishing. Why on earth are we constantly shooting ourselves in the foot and why have our politicians have become year after year less competent?
Meanwhile, unaccountable senior management teams get off scot free for their strategic failures and look forward to early retirement on whopper pensions
Yep for senior management that all seem to "work" from home most of the time and have no real value added, they need to make sure the academics work even harder with increased marking, teaching and other responsibilities. It has not occurred to them that the best way to save money is start cutting their post and all their useless little empires of associate deans etc etc
This is sadly the end of some universities. If no research happens, no good people would become academics. And there'd be no point going to university as it would be an expensive extension of school. Upper Russell Group will mostly be fine, but everything down from there is in for a rocky ride.
