I taught at a state university in California where I participated in a student-union sponsored debate about pornography and violence toward women. Nina Hartley was on the panel and was thoughtful and articulate. Psychologist friends at UCLA wanted to study men who had watched porn vs those who had not and violence toward women. They gave up BECAUSE THEY COULD FIND NO MEN WHO HAD NOT WATCHED PORN. However, I was almost sacked in the early 1980s for assigning a Richard Prior film to my race relations class. Prior was, as usual, vulgar and obscene and some Born-Again students were offended. Fortunately, the Black kids in my class backed me up.
