So the allure of an Australian university idjacaytion is the job at the end of it. Is that what it's all about? I don't think we should bother anymore...
silly really. the world has changed and if one cannot understand that then perhaps they should not be trying to study at universities, vocational courses that does require much intellect should be fine but whats changed with covid is that immigration will reduce by 99 percent possibly totally and new studentd will mostly not be coming to australia to study especially vocational sub university courses and most teaching of international student if allowed to be admitted be online with absolutely no prospect of attaining permanent residency and citizenship of countries like australia and most of the western world. people and student mobility will be stopped for at least 5 to 10 years given the job losses domestically and industry after industry getting wiped out. so as most world leaders are saying , heed their advice and get out of the host country back to your home country and do not harbour any intentions of travelling internationally and getting jobs internationally for the next 5 to 10 years because people elsewhere are not going to be very welcoming and their patience with international people citizens of other countries that do not want to leave is running thin.
The universities with million plus salaries for their vice chancellors operated like for profit entities while registered under the charities act and the billions of dollars that they accumulated in surplus were spent on themselves. If they did not distribute the billions accumulated over the years to the Aussie taxpayers and community, it’s unreasonable to expect that the Aussie taxpayer should be now funding them. The govt is not divorced from the sentiments of the Aussie taxpayers but actually reflects the latter’s sentiments as it should. Aussie tax payer monies for Aussies. As simple as that. The vice chancellors could surely sacrifice their million dollar salaries and buy some groceries to send to food bank to help these students. Corporation become unprofitable all the time and they have to close shop. Perhaps some universities should also close shop rather than continue selling their degrees to high bidders from overseas
Australians rules are for Australians not international students. Its our choice whether we change them at all and if we do change them then we must change them to suit our purpose and no external commentators required for this purpose.
