Unison chose Valentine's Day to launch a campaign for better pay for its 40,000 members in universities and colleges. Its pay claim, delivered in pink Valentine cards, is for a substantial flat rate increase linked to a minimum of Pounds 4.26 per hour. Unison said this was still well below the European minimum of Pounds 6.03.
