The Liberal Democrats' lead in the recent poll of students' voting intentions is smaller than reported in The Times Higher , once a methodological change is taken into account. The poll, conducted in February by OpinionPanel Research, showed the Lib Dems polling 39 per cent of the student vote, Labour 29 per cent and the Conservatives 23 per cent.

Using the revised methodology to recalculate the results of previous polls, the Lib Dems had a 37 per cent share, Labour 33 per cent and the Tories 19 per cent.
