Hundreds of delegates from across Britain gathered in Edinburgh yesterday for the UK launch of the European Year of Lifelong Learning attended by European commissioner Edith Cresson. The United Kingdom has identified adults in work, adult education, higher education, more advice on continuing education and training and young people preparing for work, as its priorities.
