Labour pumps in funds for adult education

Government funding for adult education is set to climb by 9 per cent to £167 million in 2002-03.

Lifelong learning minister Malcolm Wicks has also announced a £16 million capital investment to improve facilities for adult education.

The emphasis will be on projects to help adults in disadvantaged communities improve their literacy and numeracy skills. The money will be distributed by local education authorities.
