Internet provider U-Net is advertising in student newspapers to wake up students to its offer of access to the Janet academic network from any telephone socket. The dial-up service was launched last month. For Pounds 57 a year (or Pounds 94 for a higher-grade service) it enables academics and students off-campus to use the public Internet and information services on Janet, provided they have a computer and a modem. "A high proportion joining at the moment are staff," Bill Unsworth, U-Net managing director, said.
