My parents told me that they'd called me 'Megan' at least in part to give me a Welsh name that the English could get their tongues around (we were living in London when I arrived)! Of course, being able to speak Welsh gives me an unfair advantage, I can get my tongue around long and complex names with ease. Many students tell me I'm the only one who gets their name right, especially the Asian and African ones.
