Geological Society to accredit degrees

THE Geological Society is to accredit geoscience degrees to assure prospective students about teaching quality. The first courses to be accredited are at Manchester University and Birkbeck College, London. The society said degrees from accredited departments would be acceptable if graduates applied for chartered geologist status.
