Familiar faces elected to council

Five members of the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals have been elected to its council. Ken Edwards, vice-chancellor of Leicester University, Peter Knight, vice-chancellor of the University of Central England and James Wright, vice-chancellor of Newcastle University have been re-elected. Newly elected are Sir John Kingman, vice-chancellor of Bristol University and Geoffrey Copland, vice-chancellor of Westminster University. Maxwell Irvine, vice-chancellor of Birmingham University, and Sir Stewart Sutherland, vice-chancellor of Edinburgh University, are to stand down.
