The Higher Education Statistics Agency's findings for 1995/6 reveal that:

11.4 per cent of the student population came from overseas to study in the United Kingdom compared with 10.4 per cent in 1994/95

The countries sending most students to the UK from the EU, Asia and Africa were Greece, Malaysia and Kenya

42 per cent of overseas students, were postgraduates
