Images of madness in Walt Disney films, such as the mother in Dumbo and father in Mary Poppins perpetuate stereotypes of mental illness as a condition that can be violent and needs confinement, according to psychiatrist Allan Beveridge of Queen Margaret Hospital, Fife.
