The diagram also illustrates the ratio between students and bed spaces, a measure of extra capacity for new accommodation, according to Student Housing 2013: The Evolving Market, a report released last week by Deloitte Real Estate.

The map uses data from Deloitte’s student housing database and the Higher Education Statistics Agency.
