The Economic and Social Research Council is funding a Pounds 5 million research programme on devolution and constitutional change, its outgoing chief executive Ron Amann has revealed.

Professor Amann, now director of the cabinet office centre for the management of policy studies, said the six-year project would look at the relations between the constituent parts of the United Kingdom, relations with Brussels, and social and economic changes.
