(Photograph) - Coffin carriers: the funeral of Sigit Prasetiya, one of at least 11 Indonesian students killed in clashes last week between security forces and thousands of demonstrators, passes a Jakarta university. The students were allegedly hit by plastic bullets when trying to march on parliament in their campaign for democracy. Scores of other students were also injured, many seriously. An investigation into the deaths had been ordered. In the Sumatran city of Medan, about 5,000 students took over the airport and there were student-led protests in Surabaya and Bandung. President B. J. Habibie has appealed to students to accept that transition to democracy will take time.
