The funding councils for higher and further education should be "brought together", lecturers' union Natfhe told the House of Commons select committee for education this week. Giving evidence as part of the committee's inquiry into further education funding, Natfhe general secretary Paul Mackney said that further education funding council should have more responsibility for planning provision, and both councils should be able to plan together.
