Blair boosts study for disadvantaged

Some 600 online centres in disadvantaged communities were this week announced by prime minister Tony Blair. The centres will allow people to access online courses when learndirect is launched this autumn.

Forty-five of the centres will be established in Foyers, a nationwide network that provides accommodation coupled with education and training opportunities for young people who would otherwise be homeless.
