Beaker full of bioenergy: Alistair Darling, secretary of State for Trade and Industry, at Imperial College London last week announced a £20 million scheme to boost the UK's bioenergy sector, funded through the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council. The initiative will provide funding to help improve the UK's exploitation of the energy that plants and microbes are able to convert from sunlight.
