Bath University has joined forces with the University for Swindon and Wiltshire Project, set up by the Wiltshire Training and Enterprise Council, local authorities and businesses, to fill a gap in higher education provision in the area. The project intends to develop courses in local institutions, including further education colleges. Some, such as short courses tailored to meet the needs of local industry, are expected to start next year.
