Great article, thanks for publishing. Glad to see support for the mostly female academics who are facing incredible pressure to toe the line.
There is a lot of support for more debate on this issue, not less. Women have genuine concerns and are being silenced. Through history, groups that quash sincere debate and research are not usually the oppressed but the oppressing.
Unions usually identify themselves on the left wing of the political spectrum but there is absolutely nothing left wing about these horribly dystopian and totalitarian ambitions to control how academics and people generally may and may not think. Has the left wing truly come to the point of considering political suicide? This is at any rate the way to go about it.
The UCU here were not far behind this with a recent conference motion to condemn GC academics that was reported in THE. But I think that was rejected in the end - anyone know what happened?
