£33K debt forecast

Graduates could leave university owing as much as £33,708 by 2010 if the trend of rising student debt continues, a high-street bank claimed this week. Figures published by Barclays suggest that graduate debt has risen by 500 per cent since the bank carried out its first survey of student finances in 1994, when graduates left university owing an average of £2,212.
