Researchers from 200 colleges across America can now work simultaneously on a single project thanks to a new supercomputer network that came into operation last week. Linking six computer centres and seven existing academic networks nationwide, the new $14 million facility has been developed by the National Science Foundation.

Twenty-one Soviet students have died this summer during their "labour term", Moscow radio announced last week. Summer work experience in harvest fields or on building sites is considered by the Soviet Union's educationists to be an important part of students' socialist upbringing.
