Interesting article, but it loses its credibility once it begins to sound like an advocacy piece written for (some) private universities in India. Is this what employees of private universities are now being made to do in order to assert their vanguardism?
It Is, however, true that these new colleges/universities are different and that they are modeled on the residential liberal arts colleges in the US. This departure from an outdated British-style education represents significant progress for India. I have visited most of these new universities mentioned in the article and they are remarkable efforts. Each is unique and blends US-style structures with decidedly Indian strengths.
