Study in Cyprus
Europe’s southernmost country, Cyprus is beautiful, sunny and well-known for its long summers and sandy beaches. The former British colony, Cyprus retains something of an English feel, with all its universities offering courses in English. Its higher education sector attracts around 10,000 international students, with institutions charging fairly modest tuition fees. Public universities tend to charge less, but are fewer in number than private institutions.
The Mediterranean island nation is located south of Turkey and south west of Greece. Nicosia, the capital and most populated city, combines old and new and Christianity and Islam, perhaps epitomised by the Selimiye Mosque, a mixture of the two.
A number of its cities enjoy a buzzing nightlife. Those looking to escape the city, though, can look to its hillside trails and historic ruins, while the Troodos Mountains in the centre of the island include peaks just short of 2,000m.
Famous Cypriots include the actor Zeki Alasya and the singer Marlen Aggelidou.
