Former Burmese rector begins hunger strike
The 80-year-old former rector of Burma's Yezin University began a hunger strike on April , more than a year after he was sentenced to seven years in prison. Salai Tun Than staged a one-man demonstration in support of democracy outside government buildings in Rangoon in 2001.
