Swansea joins quest for university status

Swansea Institute is bidding for degree-awarding powers and a university title following a decision by the court of the University of Wales last week to admit the Institute of Higher Education as a university college. Subject to Privy Council approval and the granting of degree-awarding powers, the institute will be called Swansea Institute, University of Wales.
