A special committee of inquiry has been established by Swansea Institute of Higher Education in the wake of the resignation of the principal Gerald Stockdale. The committee, headed by institute governor Roy Phelps, will examine the breakdown of staff-management relations following the row about the institute's overseas franchise operation. It will decide the future of vice principal Hywel Rees, who is suspended on full pay, and is due to report by Christmas.
