Cornwall College is the first further education college in the UK to become a free internet service provider. Its initial service, Cornwall-County Online, is aimed primarily at local businesses, to help small to medium-sized enterprises take their first steps towards electronic commerce.

Martyn Oliver, Cornwall's director of marketing, said: "Companies here have access to the internet already. This is more than a way of getting online. It gives quick and simple access to vital information. "

The college is developing new research services and databases through its business school, providing students and firms with access to information on the Cornish economy. For a free CD, call Louisa Jenkins on 01209 616103. Web: www.cornwall-county.com;Cornwall College: www.cornwall.ac.uk
