Slow route to China

Respect is due to Derby University geologist Andrew Johnson, who took nine days to travel to China by train rather than take a faster but far more environmentally damaging flight. But the university confirmed that because of a pressing appointment the environmentally conscious Dr Johnson had to catch a plane back to the UK after attending the Second International Palaeontological Congress in Beijing.
