Somebody clearly feels nostalgia for that brief transition period of history when the polytechnics were independent of local authorities, but had yet to attain university status. Spotted in last week's standings of The Daily Telegraph Fantasy Football League was a team called PCFC. Ninety-first out of 336,000 is no bad performance so far either, although some with memories of the organisation may find it appropriate that other teams sharing their lofty perch include No-hopers and Bedwetting Toddlers FC.
