Parting gift: London Guildhall lecturer David Lane is one of six academics made compulsorily redundant as part of the university's recovery plan. Mathematician Dr Lane was joined on the picket line by members of lecturers' union Natfhe during a one-day strike on Tuesday. The university is restructuring and cutting costs in a bid to tackle a budget deficit. Measures also include a pay freeze.
