The director of the Ecole Centrale Paris, whose reappointment was blocked by former education minister Claude Allegre, has got his old job back. Daniel Gourisse has been head of the engineering school since 1978, but Mr Allegre refused to renew his contract despite backing from governors and the graduates' association. Mr Allegre lost his job in March.
