A technician at the University of Padua shot one person dead and seriously wounded two others during a disciplinary meeting in the engineering faculty. A union representative was killed outright, the director of physics was described as "clinically dead" after being shot in the head and a colleague of the gunman was seriously wounded but should survive. This was the second fatal shooting in an Italian university in less than two years.
