Lecturer sets sail

A creative-writing lecturer from the University of Central England in Birmingham will compete next month in the IFDS Disabled Sailing World Championships. Jackie Gay and sailing partner Allan Smith will sail against teams from around the world in the SKUD 18 , a two-person keelboat. Ms Gay, a part-time lecturer in the School of English at UCE's faculty of law, humanities, development and society, lost her left leg in a car accident in Africa in 1994.
