Belfast unveils £150m revamp appeal
Queen’s University Belfast has launched a £150 million fundraising campaign. It plans a wide range of building projects from an 1,800-place student village to a new library, and academic initiatives including chairs to attract top research talent.

Ovines are clever bleaters
Sheep do not deserve their woolly-brained reputation, scientists said today in the journal Nature . Researchers from the the Babraham Institute in Cambridge found the animals could remember familiar faces, both sheep and human, after a long absence.

Scots online safety service launched
Glasgow, Strathclyde and Glasgow Caledonian universities and Glasgow College of Food Technology have launched an online safety advice service, www.saferstudent.org.uk . Chief superintendent John Wilson of Strathclyde Police said: “It will be an enjoyable and effective way for students to keep themselves and their property safe.”
