French factions heal rift
French student unions have healed a 30-year ideological rift and reunited to form the National Union of Students of France (UNEF). The new union, formed by the pro-Socialist UNEF-ID and pro-Communist UNEF-SE, will be led by Yassir Fichtali, previously president of UNEF-ID.

200 expelled from Sudanese campus
Two hundred West African students have been expelled from the International African University in Khartoum following a bitter four-month dispute over the exclusion of 13 colleagues. The students had been boycotting classes, demanding the 13’s readmission.
