Lecturers' union leaders have welcomed an announcement from John Prescott, the deputy prime minister, that further education lecturers will be included in a two-year, £700 million scheme to provide affordable housing for key workers in London and the Southeast. But Natfhe is disappointed that staff on fixed-term contracts and university lecturers will not qualify for help under the scheme.
