Government proposes social work degree

The government published A Quality Strategy for Social Care last week. It proposed a new body to issue guidance on social care practice, a new quality framework and a radical reform of training requirements. It also published the long-awaited JM Consulting report that recommends a national curriculum for social work training, the development of centres of excellence and a three-year undergraduate qualification. The consultation period ends on November 21.
