Glasgow language cuts

Glasgow University has denied fresh claims that it is singling out its School of Modern Languages for job losses as part of its cost-cutting voluntary severance scheme, launched in June. A spokesperson said the national decline in student interest in languages made it difficult to maintain teaching levels. Glasgow would ensure that any changes in staff numbers had the minimum amount of impact on the curriculum, he said.
