Students at the University of Florence have complained that their university's continuing failure to pay its debts to commercial suppliers is dragging its name into disrepute. A student union spokesman said: "It is scandalous that a public institution that has an annual balance of more than e560 million (Pounds 330 million) should have failed to pay its debts."
