The government is giving Pounds 1.5 million towards strengthening the engineering profession through actions such as encouraging more school pupils to consider an engineering career and helping employers update their training schemes. It has also announced a Pounds 34,000 grant for the Engineering Council to update its guidelines on environmental issues.
