* At a fringe meeting of Conservative Students, national chairman Gavin Williamson, launched a campaign to recruit members. Mr Williamson said the NUS had mishandled the tuition fees issue, and acted as a "branch of the Labour party". He said Conservative Students hoped to mop up disaffected students.
