The University of Manchester this week launched a business that will help researchers commercialise technology and form their own spin-off companies.

"The launch of Manchester Innovation Ltd shows we are eager and ready to help the seeds of innovation bear fruit," said Marie Smith, chief executive of the new company.

"With our strong market-focused, multi-disciplinary commercial team, we can provide superb opportunities for first-class business development, including the incubation of bioscience companies in our new Pounds 15 million building."
