Cardiff University - Digital ballads

Welsh ballads from the 18th and 19th centuries once sung on street corners can now be heard online. A project run by Cardiff University and the National Library of Wales has captured 4,000 of the songs and posted them on the web, creating a resource that documents singers' reactions to issues of the day. The ballads chart the history of workers' rights and crime and record village gossip.
