Welsh Universities will receive an 11 per cent increase to their research grant for 1999-2000, the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales has confirmed. Institutions will share Pounds 50 million in 1998-99, with quality research funding, based on research asessment exercise results, increased from Pounds 40 million to Pounds 43.8 million.
