Blair backs enterprise revolution

(Photograph) - * Britain needs to encourage its entrepreneurs to get ahead in the knowledge-based economy, prime minister Tony Blair (below) told the British Venture Capital Association Conference this week.

"We need a revolution in attitudes to entrepreneurs. Our task is to create more opportunities for entrepreneurship," he said.

The government's education reforms would help build a successful economy, he said. "Britain has been great at educating an elite - useless at reaching right down throughout society."

He said initiatives such as the University Challenge Funds programme were ways of fostering education and business links.
