Paul Fearnhead of the department of mathematics and statistics at Lancaster University has won this year's Adams Prize. It is awarded by Cambridge University's faculty of mathematics and St John's College to a young UK-based researcher doing first-class international research in mathematical sciences. It is worth about £13,000.
