Linden West (Features, THES, January 19) uses a quote from an old article by us to support a stereotyped and outdated picture of undergraduate medical education. It is now a legal requirement that all UK medical schools offer courses on humanistic sciences such as ethics, communication skills and the psychology of human behaviour.
