Search engines are failing. Research methods classes need to catch up

leave search engines to the untrained monkeys. Many academics still employ the strategy of starting from the leading books and papers by reading them then following up references in the bibliography, via libraries or contacting authors directly.To find those starting point we still rely on tools such as journals and networking at conferences, the importance of both [esp for younger academics] cannot be underestimated despite rumours of their demise often from those with a vested interested in the "digital" alternatives. I have a personal bookshelf with ~150 essential volumes, many dating back to my UG courses.
